Exposure assessment is important for the risk assessment of chemicals. Emission Scenario Document (ESD) is a part of this assessment for estimating emission. Several ESDs have been developed and authorized in various countries or international organizations. In this Paper ESDs of OECD were explained and their scope coverage of life cycle and environmental media studied. Moreover comparison with the release estimating methods for Japanese PRTR system was performed. An international contribution will be possible by utilizing existing estimation methods.
